You may have heard that the topic that couples argue about most is money. So you can imagine that with rising unemployment and the unsteady economy couples would deal with even more money conflicts.

Being newly unemployed myself, I can relate. Add to that the fact that we have completely different spending/savings habits (I spend/he saves) and we’ve got a recipe for disaster.

We’re lucky, though. Having been together for almost seven years and married for almost a year and a half, we’ve made some great progress. I am no longer a slave to my charge card and have inherited his good saving habits while he worries less about money and recognizes it as a means to an end and not the end itself.

So what can you do to limit your money arguments?

In their book, Get Financially Naked: How to Talk Money with Your Honey Manisha Thako and Sharon Kedar help you gain the confidence to bring up the money topic, evaulate your financial compatibility and how to plan and implement a successful money strategy.

It also makes a great writing or laptop desk when used with optional acrylic desktop. Me?
That is, if my cat hasn’t claimed it as her newest sleeping spot!

Yes I admit, I am some-what skeptical of “self-help” books, but as I started reading the first few pages, I found myself really absorbed. The book, entitled, “The Secret,” by Rhonda Byrne, begins by telling the reader about “The Secret is the law of attraction” that things that come in to your life, are things that you attract into your life. Not clear? Read it! Like me, you will soon understand that you have more control over the things in your life than you know! If you can take just a few good pointers from this book, it’s definitely worth it!
