Dare to Try: False Eyelashes

Hi, my name is Megan and I was born with puny eyelashes. True story! I look at my husband who has possibly the longest eyelashes I’ve ever seen and wonder why they were wasted on him! Mine are so light that if I forget to wear mascara people ask me if I’m feeling ok.
I’ve wanted to try false eyelashes for the longest time. In fact, I’ve tried them on more than one occasion, but I’ve never been able to successfully apply them. Until now. I did a little research and found these great tips for applying falsies.
Don’t neglect your natural lashes
The key to great falsies is to blend them in with your real lashes. The first step to doing this is to curl your lashes as you normally would and apply a sweep of mascara.- Give it a good flex
False eyelashes are easier to apply when they’re a little flexed out. Take one and bend it a few times to make it easier to handle. - Time for glue
Break out that lash glue and apply it to a q-tip or toothpick and then spread over the lash band. But don’t put the on quite yet – be sure to make sure they’re still tacky and not quite dry and then apply them to the edge of your upper eyelid. - Make contact
Starting from the outer corner in, hold the lashes with your fingers and apply to the lid as close to your natural lashes as possible. - Set it
Take a Q-tip and press the lashes into place then leave them for a couple of minutes while they dry. - Make it up
Now that your lashes are dry, apply your makeup to the eyelid as usual – some liner or dark eyeshadow will help blend the falsies in with your original and no one will ever know the difference.
That’s all I needed to successfully apply false lashes correctly for the first time. Problem is – once I start wearing them I’m sure I won’t be able to leave home without them.
